How agencies quote PowerPoint design services

One of the questions we often ask is, "How much do you charge for your services?” We get it: your team is busy, and you're just looking for a ballpark figure for a fixed number of slides or some quick design enhancements.

Perhaps you want someone contracted to freelance for your organisation in-house and be the go-to designer for your pitch, animation, and presentation needs. Or maybe you’re looking to revamp your presentation materials after a company rebrand and want to give your entire slide library of template slides a facelift.

Here are some factors that we account for when pricing out a design project and sending a quote to prospective clients:

Design complexity

Suppose you’re a B2B financial data software company that needs to convey the specifications of your technology solution in your deck. In that case, chances are, your slides will look a little different than a typical B2C company selling fine jewellery, whose slides will predominantly feature high-resolution images of your products and not much text.

Generally speaking, the more complex the slides are (think financial graphs, org charts, complex diagrams with data-heavy industry-specific technical content), the higher you can expect your investment to be. This is another reason why the length of your desired presentation isn’t always the best indicator of how much it will cost.

When requesting a quote or hopping on a discovery call with a presentation design agency like Presentation Studio, the best thing you can do is share examples of your existing drafts and the inspiration - templates you've seen, photos, adverts or fonts - try Pinterest for ideas you'd like to draw from for your project. This gives us the most precise possible sense of what you’re looking for, allowing us to determine whether we can deliver it and what we would charge.

Brand guidelines

Some clients come to us with a fully fleshed-out brand guidelines pack that outlines the colours, fonts, spacing, logos, formatting, and flourishes that adhere to their brand identity (which are a walk in the park for us to implement). Some have a logo and preferred colours but lack a comprehensive brand guideline to define the overall look and feel. If the latter case sounds familiar, we must allow some extra time for creative legwork to develop effective slide design concepts.

Existing process

Are we starting from scratch with your presentation, or is there already an outline you’ve started working on? The bigger question is: how many stakeholders and final decision-makers are involved? Time spent with several opinions can blow a budget if this isn't managed early (which we do). Have we worked with you before, or is this project adapted from existing materials we can reference? Does it need a complete re-design or a light edit? Are your brand guidelines already implemented, or do they need updating to account for your recent rebrand?

Do we need to transfer the work across different platforms such as Microsoft 365, Google and Canva?

Evaluating the project’s progress is another way to estimate the investment you can expect to make accurately. Suppose you’re sending the final text with a straightforward narrative and structure. In that case, we’ll be starting from a very different place than if we need to start with your presentation objectives and key message before beginning work on the design while reshaping the deck to fit a brand new direction.

Additional services

Most of Presentation Studio’s clients opt for the complete works, including our speaker training services that help executives and salespeople present with confidence and flair. In addition, clients ask us to help them create leave-behind materials such as interactive follow-up PDFs, brochures or handouts, marketing collateral for events and conferences, or sales templates so future pitches can be easily replicated. If a one-stop shop for all your design needs is what you’re after, we’d love to work with you.

The truth is that no two projects are the same, which is why we place so much value on having initial conversations to discuss the full scope of what you are looking for. It’s impossible to quote off-the-shelf prices for an entirely bespoke service that meets you where you’re at—nor would we ever want to accidentally mislead you by quoting way more or less than you expect without understanding what you need from us.

Book a call - we can’t wait to hear from you!
